Feb 01,2016·An Al 2 O 3 /TiC composite ceramic tool material was fabricated by microwave sintering.The cutting performance was experimentally studied when machining hardened alloy steel 40Cr (50 ± 2HRC) and hardened tool steel T10A (60 ± 2HRC),in comparison with those of an Al 2 O 3 /TiC ceramic tool (LT55) produced by hot-pressing technology and a WC/Co cemented carbide tool (YS8).FATIGUE PERFORMANCE COMPARISON AND LIFEfatigue strength at 106 cycles for forged steel was determined to be 359 MPa (52.1 ksi) and for the cast iron to be 263 MPa (38.1 ksi).Therefore the fatigue strength at 106 cycles was 37% higher for forged steel than the cast iron.This results in a factor of 30 longer life for the forged steel than the cast iron in the high cycle region.
